While looking for training daywalks for our next multiday walk, I was reminded that I still had a short section of the Heysen Trail from Mylor to Mt Lofty that needed completing. (I’m not near finishing the trail, but things are a little less accessible for daywalks on the rest of it). This turned out to be an atypical walk on the Heysen trail: We had a lift to the start which was at a rather relaxed mid morning timeslot, we walked for a couple of hours and stopped for lunch at the Bridgewater Mill followed by a bit of a yomp up to Mt Lofty through the Picadilly Valley. The only strenuous part was the final climb up to Mt Lofty.
Lunch was excellent, if a bit pricey and delicious compared to my usual trail lunches.
I managed to mis-navigate upon leaving the Mill, and discovered we were heading for the Hahndorf diversion which added a km or so to the walk.
Total distance was 17.6km with elevation gain of 659m over 3:46hrs moving time, for an average pace of 12:52sec per km
